How I Got Started in Boudoir
Four years ago, I was just like so many of the women who walk into my studio—curious, nervous, and a little unsure what to expect from boudoir.
I started by taking sexy selfies at home for my then-boyfriend (now husband). I’ll be honest… I was not expecting much. But when I saw those photos, I remember thinking, “Holy crap… I’m HOT!” It was such a confidence boost. I started to see myself differently—beautiful, powerful, feminine.
But let’s be real—taking selfies is a pain in the ass. So I decided to book a boudoir session. I didn’t research; I literally Googled “boudoir near me” and clicked the first one. While I didn’t hate my photos, I walked away with the sense that the experience could have been… more.
That’s when I started falling in love with the art of boudoir. I began following photographers online, studying their work, and realizing how transformative this genre could be. My first session hadn’t quite given me what I craved—a luxury, empowering, confidence-fueled experience.
A year later, I decided to change that. I took my background in cosmetology and graphic design and tried my hand at boudoir photography. I asked some friends to model, rented an Airbnb, and after that first shoot… I was HOOKED.

Two months later, I signed the lease on my first studio.
Eighteen months after that, I walked away from a 23-year corporate career to run my business full time.
And now? I’ve photographed hundreds of women and recently opened my brand-new studio—Fox Den Studios NC.
I never knew I could love my job this much. Boudoir has become more than photography for me—it’s a movement. It’s helping women see what I saw in myself four years ago: confidence, power, and beauty that was there all along.

If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and thought, “I want to feel like that,”—this is your sign. You deserve to see yourself the way everyone else already does.
