💋 What to Wear for Your Boudoir Session (and What NOT to)
If you’ve ever opened your closet and thought, “What the hell am I supposed to wear for this?”—you’re not alone.
Your boudoir session isn’t about following a checklist or looking like someone else—it’s about wearing pieces that make you feel confident, sexy, and unstoppable. Whether you’re rocking lace, leather, or nothing at all, the key is choosing what helps you feel like the main character.
✨ Let’s Start with the Basics
1. Lingerie You Actually Love
Forget what’s “trendy.” Go for pieces that fit well and highlight your favorite features. Bodysuits, high-waisted sets, and matching bra-and-panty combos photograph beautifully.
“I wore a simple black bodysuit and felt like a damn supermodel. Jenn made me feel so comfortable that I forgot I was nervous!”
2. Textures That Photograph Well
Lace, satin, mesh, and velvet all add beautiful dimension and catch light in dreamy ways. Avoid anything overly shiny or reflective (looking at you, cheap polyester).
3. Bring Variety (or Borrow Something Fabulous)
Bring at least 3–4 looks if your session allows it—and remember, you don’t have to come up with them all on your own! You’re welcome to mix pieces you already own with items from my fully stocked client closet, which includes lingerie, robes, jewelry, and heels in sizes XS–4XL.
Here’s a little inspiration for what to bring (or borrow):
A classic lingerie set that makes you feel powerful and put-together
Something playful or themed—like your partner’s shirt, a cozy sweater, or a birthday look
A bold statement piece such as a corset, robe, heels, or dramatic jewelry
Optional: something sheer or nude-toned for a fine-art or editorial vibe
“Jenn encouraged me to bring one outfit that felt different. I almost didn’t pack it, but those ended up being my favorite photos!”
💎 Don’t Forget the Details
Accessories make a huge difference—heels, jewelry, stockings, and robes can completely change a look.
And yes, you can absolutely bring sentimental items like your partner’s shirt, your wedding veil, or even your favorite perfume bottle. Those small touches tell your story.
🚫 What Not to Wear
Let’s talk about what doesn’t photograph well. While most colors and styles can look incredible on camera, there are a few things that tend to miss the mark.
Anything that hides your shape. Loose-fitting babydolls or flowy pieces might feel safe, but they usually do the opposite of what you want—they hide your curves instead of celebrating them.
Poorly fitted lingerie. If it digs, gaps, or rolls, it’ll show in your photos (and distract you during the session). Choose pieces that hug your body comfortably.
Items that need constant adjusting. You should feel confident and free to move—not worried about straps slipping or fabric riding up.
Logos or wording. Unless it’s intentionally part of your look, these can pull focus away from you.
✅ What looks amazing: Jewel tones (emerald, sapphire, ruby, amethyst) photograph beautifully on all skin tones, and don’t be afraid of bold colors or patterns—they can make your images pop in the best way.
Bottom line: if it makes you feel sexy, confident, and powerful, it’s absolutely the right choice.
💋 Still Not Sure What to Bring?
No worries—you don’t have to figure it out alone.
When you book your session, you’ll get access to the Bondage & Bows client closet, stocked with curated lingerie, robes, jewelry, and heels in sizes XS–4XL.
We’ll also go over your wardrobe options together during your consultation so you can come prepared (and excited!).
“The client closet was a lifesaver. Jenn had so many beautiful options that fit perfectly—I ended up using those instead of what I brought”
🌟 Your Session, Your Style
Whether your vibe is soft and romantic, bold and daring, or minimal and raw, what you wear should reflect you.
Confidence doesn’t come from the outfit—it comes from how you feel in it. The lingerie just helps bring that energy to life.
